Phellinus ferreus (Pers.) Bourd. & Galz. syn. Polyporus ferreus Pers. Rostbrauner Korkporling Cinnamon Porecrust. Fruit body resupinate, initially forming small cushions 1–2mm across which are cinnamon-yellow, later fusing and becoming cinnamon-brown. Flesh rusty brown. Tubes 2–5mm long in each of the 4–5 layers, rusty-brown. Pores 4–6 per mm, circular to angular, rusty-cinnamon. Spores hyaline, cylindric, 5–6.5 x 2–2.5um. Setae thick-walled, fusiform with acute apex, dark brown. Habitat on dead branches of deciduous wood, especially hazel, causing an intensive white rot which rapidly destroys the wood. Season all year, perennial. Common. Not edible. Found In Europe.
